When we sat down with XPO Brands, they explained the brief which certainly was an eye opener. They wanted to give their client, Vaalia, something amazing for their shoppers. They were going to setup a stand in shopping centres and expos along the east coast of Australia, handout Vaalia products to shoppers and offer them the opportunity to have a “vitality” GIF taken, which they could share on social media with the chance to win a custom personalised Vaalia yoga mat.
The GIFs couldn’t be the standard ones you normally see, instead they must show motion and animation that could encapsulate inner vitality. So we created 5 different GIFs that the shoppers could choose from. Each GIF was 4 photos and each photo had a different overlay. 20 overlays in total. As far as we know, this level of tech options had never been attempted before and with 5 weeks to make it happen, we’re proud to say we did exactly that, with some help from our LA based social and tech team.
We also setup the booth to print the GIFs onto a designed 4×6” printout for the shoppers to take home and put it on their fridge or hang up at work.
It’s amazing what can be accomplished in such a short amount of time, but when you’re 100% committed to a project as Blue Steel does for each and every client, finding new software, learning it then relentlessly testing until everything is perfect, it’s satisfying when the job comes off without a hitch.
