$20,000 Perfect KIIS In World First

Approached by ARN’s KIIS 101.1, Blue Steel was asked if it was possible to build a kissing booth that could judge the way people kissed, make it social media friendly and take it to locations all over Melbourne, with the best kiss taking home $20K. We laughed, said “of course”, made some recommendations making it more visually and socially effective (eg. shooting video instead of photos)…and the KIISing Booth was born.

This had never been attempted before anywhere in the world…ever…so there were many digital and design components that we had to invent and implement.

Firstly, we had to shoot video through perspex that we fitted on a custom stand which each person kissed for 10 secs (each kisser had their own transparent sheet that we applied on the perspex for WHS reasons). Next we built an app to judge each kiss on style and technique, including a countdown that was shown on a big screen outside the booth. Then install a Go Pro “spy cam” with live feed for public viewing, share each kiss and individual judgement on social media, brand everything and ensure set up/pack down at each location.

With 5 weeks from go-time to showtime, the stats above plus growing the clients social media “at an unprecedented rate”, it’s safe to say this was a successful campaign 🙂
